Sri Sharadamba Temple
Sri Sharadamba Temple is one of the most important spiritual landmarks in Chikkamagaluru district. Located on the banks of the Tunga River at Sringeri, the temple is associated with the Sri Sringeri Sharada Peetham and the Advaita Vedanta tradition. Goddess Sharadamba is worshipped here as the embodiment of knowledge, wisdom and learning. The temple attracts devotees, students, families and spiritual travellers throughout the year.
The temple complex is also home to several historically important shrines, including the Vidyashankara Temple. The peaceful surroundings of the Tunga River, traditional architecture and religious activities make Sringeri an important pilgrimage destination in Karnataka. Navaratri is celebrated on a large scale, with special rituals and cultural programmes. The official Sringeri information lists the Sharadamba Temple’s normal darshan periods as morning and evening sessions.
